After graduating from Weed High School in 2011, Jake played both Golf and Basketball at Simpson University. In 2012, West played Basketball for College of the Siskiyous, before receiving a golf scholarship to Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida. West coached 1 year of girls Basketball at Weed High School alongside his father, Bob West. He has been assisting his brother the past 5 seasons with the Weed High School Boys Basketball program. West joined the College of the Siskiyous coaching staff in 2015 under Tom Powers and

Noelle Collier. West and his dad have owned and operated Ellie’s Espresso and Bakery in Weed since 2017.
