Bio

Ed Kephart is entering his 7th year as the head coach for the men's soccer program and his 4th year as a full time faculty member in the Kinesiology department at College of the Siskiyous.  In only 2 years Kephart has molded the COS men's soccer program into a competitive team in the Golden Valley Conference.

Prior to College of the Siskiyous, coach Kephart spent six seasons as the Cypress College Men's Soccer coach. Coach Kephart led the Cypress Chargers men's soccer team to their first ever postseason appearance in school history durimg his first season in 2009.  While at Cypress, Ed not only turned the program around from a winless team in 2008 to a playoff bound team in 2009 but he also helped his student-athletes move on to schools all over the country to continue playing soccer and finish their education.

While coaching at Cypress College, Ed simultaneously coached the Troy High School (Fullerton, CA) Women's Soccer team.  In 2009 he lead the Warriors to their first ever CIF Division III Championship. Kephart lead Troy to the CIF Quarter Finals and undefeated Freeway League Championships in 2010 and 2015.  In 2011 he took a break from high school coaching but returned by request of the school in 2012.  In his 6 years as head coach at Troy High School, Ed compiled a record of 101-26-28.  Coach Kephart helped his Troy student-athletes move on to colleges at all levels including University of Oregon (Katelyn Carter), Chico State (Alyx Williams & Lindsey Dias), Bucknell (Lauren Dandie), CSU Long Beach (Shea Hoover), CSU Fullerton (Kaycee Hoover & Riley Hoover), CSU San Marcos (Mary Green), West Point (Stephanie Gower), Azusa Pacific (Brooke Gower), and many others.  

Prior to being the head coach at Cypress College and Troy High School, Coach Kephart worked as an assistant at Santiago Canyon College from 2000-2009. Ed was hired by head coach Ian Woodhead to help build the program from the ground up.  During that time he helped lead the Santiago Canyon Women's Soccer team to five Orange Empire Conference Titles (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008), one California State Runner Up (2007) and one California State Title (2006). 

Ed spent 16 years coaching at the club soccer level in Southern California at some of the top clubs in the country including Strikers, Slammers, and Corinthians.  He worked with children from the ages of 9 to 18 years old, both boys and girls.  During his time at the club level, Kephart worked as a head coach, ECNL goal keeper coach, and college recruting director.

In 2000 Coach Kephart joined the staff of the Cal South Olympic Development Program as a goalkeeper coach where he worked with goalkeepers such as Chris Seitz (FC Dallas), Brian Perk (LA Galaxy), Earl Edwards Jr. (Orlando City FC), and Austin Gurrero (Alianza FC).  Ed moved on to coach as an age group assistant and head coach where he had the opportunity to work with athletes such as Chrisian Ramirez (Minnesota FC), Jack McBean (LA Galaxy), and Steve Palacios (Portland Timbers).  While working for Cal South, Ed was also a member of the Coaching Education Staff where he taught USSF 'E' and 'D' licenses as well as Youth Modules and goalkeeping courses.  

Coach Kephart has just recently joined the Cal North ODP coaching staff as the head coach for the boys 2006 age group.

Kephart has his B.S. Degree and single subject teaching credential in Health Education from California State University Long Beach and his M.S. Degree in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania. He is certified as a Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.  He is also a certified CPR/First Aid/AED instructor through the American Red Cross.  Ed holds a USSF 'B' Licence, USSF National Youth License, and an NSCAA Goalkeeping Level I and II certificate.  Coach Kephart is happily married to his wife Jennifer and has a son Nathan.
