STAR PROGRAM
Star Program Eligibility Criteria:
- Declare intent prior to first day of class to become a resident
- Student must declare a Goal, on their application, of one of the following:
- Obtaining an Associate of Arts Degree (AA)
- Obtaining an Associate of Science Degree (AS)
- Obtaining an Associate of Art for Transfer Degree (AA-T)
- Obtaining an Associate of Science for Transfer Degree (AS-T)
- Obtaining a Certificate of Achievement (COA)
- Student can enroll in a maximum of 6 units per term
- Students applying for the FALL 2020 STAR program must live in California prior to February 1, 2021 to start presence documentation.
- FALL 2020 STAR Program End Date will be end of Winter 2022 term.
Star Program Student Process:
- Apply to attend College of the Siskiyous through CCC Apply and declares a Goal of (AA/AS/AAT/AST/COA)
- Student completes STAR Program Application
- Student is eligible to apply for financial aid - financial aid process
- Residency Specialist will attribute student to identify as a participant of the program and cap their unit max to 6 units
- Student completes new student orientation – Identifies themselves as a STAR Student
- Student registers and attends their classes
Star Program Continued Eligibility
- FALL 2020 STAR Students will establish California presence by February 1, 2021
- Student will maintain a 2.0 GPA and progress toward goal
- Student will not enroll in more than 6 units per term.
- Student will have limited dropping and adding capabilities during term
- Example – Student enrolls in 6 units. Drops a 3 unit course some time during the term and then adds a 3 unit course. They have enrolled in 9 units for the term and are disqualified from the program.
- FALL 2020 STAR Students will complete COLL 0600 and COLL 0601 by Winter 2022
- FALL 2020 STAR Students will complete EDUC 670 every term
- FALL 2020 STAR Students will complete two sections of PEFI 0519 by Winter 2022
Star Program Benefits for Student:
- Non-Resident Tuition waived (up to 6 units per term)
- Students become a resident of California
- Non-Resident Tuition is currently $326 per unit
- California Resident Tuition is $46 per unit
- Student is eligible to apply for Financial Aid
- Student can complete 24 units in a year
- Non-Resident Tuition cost savings of $1,680 each term
- Non-Resident Tuition not on STAR program for 6 Units = $1,956
- Non-Resident Tuition on the STAR Program for 6 Units = $276
